BALI
31st December 2012 – 1st January 2013
Hi crew and thanks for dropping by the baliwaves.com (keeping it together since 1999) for the start of another surfing year here on the all ways in season tropical surfing holiday destination of BALI.
Ok so I rekon you all understand why the report never got loaded up yesterday, New Years Eve right ! Well anyway the boys and I spent the last day of 2012 over on the East Coast at Keramas. Ariving at 9.30am to find wave height in the waist to chest high region with the odd bigger freak set, clean and smooth surfing conditions, even though the wind was light on shore. But with the main break a little too crowded at 30 surfers on it and averaging 2-3 surfers per wave. So we opted for the Car Park section right in front of Ngurah’s Warung with only 2 other surfers on it.
Nothing serious just some consistent little fun sized waves. I also took a short walk down the southern end of the beach and couldn’t help but notice all the new villa complex’s being built there as well.
This morning to start off 2013 we made an early morning run back over to the East Coast but this time to Serangan. Unfortunately for the camera the weather was crap and rain fell most of the time so I couldn’t shoot anything for ya’s. But there was some real nice waves breaking there early just as the tide was starting to run back in. It was pushing the double head high mark on the bigger sets and with a clean off shore wind. I think there was only around 5 surfers there ahead of us.
Weather wise, like I mentioned it’s been ordinary to say the least and even though the outside temperature is still sitting on 27 degree’s Celsius, Humidity @ 89% I’m thinking about putting on my fur (fake) lined jacket shortly. Rain has been falling fairly consistently for the last 3-4hrs, hopefully it should let up soon.
Ok, now that the festive season has finally passed Bali should get back to normal again pretty soon, by that I mean losing all the domestic traffic and I can’t wait. Anyway we’ll be back out on the wave hunt again tomorrow so be sure to check in to see what’s been happening here on Bali.
