BALI
Rip Curl Padang Padang Cup Trials.
30th June – 1st July 2013
Hello everyone and thanks for checking out the baliwaves.com (keeping you in the loop since 1999) for the latest news on surfing and weather conditions from right here on the No.1 tropical surfing holiday destination of BALI.
Well this report should been up and running around lunch time on the 1st but as Murphy’s Law dictates the power went off in my area for around 6 hours. And by that time it was indeed time to celebrate Ketut’s birthday with a few cold drinks, and that’s what we did.
But anyway these photos were captured down at the Rip Curl Padang Padang Cup Trials where our local surfers battled it out for 2 chances to progress through to the main event. The winner Rahtu Suargita and runner up Alik Rudiarta will now get to show their tube riding skills with some of the best barrel riders out there. The Ripcurl Padang Padang Cup is now on stand by and just waiting for the right swell to arrive, and with plenty of waiting time it will be on when it’s on. baliwaves will be covering the event when it’s on so just stay tuned right here.
Yesterday the 1st of July and there was still plenty of waves on offer here on Bali’s premier West Coast. Our first surf check on the Outer Reefs was showing head to well over head high waves breaking between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. It was around 9.15am when the SE off shore Tradewind started to kick in and tidy up surfing conditions.
I got Ketut to take a run down to see what was happening at Uluwatu and apparently there was no shortage of swell down there either with some solid 4-6 footers breaking from the Main Peak and down through the Racetrack section. Right now (2nd July) it’s only just gone 5.00AM and I’m getting ready to head back out and see if we can find ya’s some more waves. So I’ll pick out some photos from Uluwatu yesterday and mix em in with today’s photos.
Ok folks it’s all happening and I’ll be back here again later this afternoon so hang in there.
