BALI
28th August 2013
Hello everyone and thanks for taking the time out to call by the baliwaves.com (keeping you in the loop with Bali since 1999) for the latest news on surfing and weather conditions from here on the always in season tropical surfing holiday destination of BALI.
Ok so our mandatory 6.45am surf check on the Outer reefs here in Tuban was showing wave height breaking in the 1-3ft range between Kuta reef and Airport Left. And with the tide still running out only Middle Reef was surf-able, and there were already a handful of early risers out there having some fun. At the time surfing conditions were perfect with the wind clean off shore out of the East.
My guests how ever were looking for some more size and power so we headed back down the highway south to Bali’s premier surfing location of Uluwatu. arriving around 9.00am just as the tide was starting to run back in to find wave height breaking on the Racetrack section in the 2-3ft+ range. There were already around 20 surfers in the water at Ulu and strange as it may seem the wind had swung back to the West blowing light on shore.
It was around 10.00am the wind shifted back to the East and off shore again and by that time there was close to 60 surfers in the line up. As the tide kept creeping in the Main Peak and Temple sections also started working and delivering some nice tube rides. By the time we packed up at 1.00pm there were at least 100 surfers* spread from Temple’s down to the top of the Racetrack.
Driving past Impossible’s on the way down to Uluwatu there were some 2-3 footers bending down the reef. But not much happening on the way back home with the tide killing it.
Our Keramas surf report came through at 9.00am calling in wave height on the main break to be in the 2-3 foot range with 5 surfers riding the lower end of the tide. Then at 11.45am wave heigt built a little more and into the 3-4ft class with the rising tide and still only 11 surfers on it. Surfing conditions by this time were still clean and tidy with a light on shore wind.
Our G-Land Surf Report is on hold for another day or two after our man Tommy H. had a boating accident yesterday. Apparently he was out shooting some perfect waves in the boat and his captain was watching the surfers and not the approaching waves. Luckily their boat managed to make the jump over the set wave but poor old Tommy got launched about 6ft into the air coming crashing down into the bottom of the boat. So T.H. will be resting his bruised and bleeding body for a couple of shifts.
So if anyone is interested in going over to the legendary left hand wave, G-LAND of East Java contact me and baliwaves.com will hook ya’s up with a solid 10% discount.

Weather wise it was another one of those weird type weather days. This morning here in Tuban it was clear and sunny, but down on the southern end of the island it was overcast grey and there was actually some light rain falling. By the time it cleared up around 11.00am it was steamy hot with the humidity pushing the 100% mark.
