BALI
19th June 2014
Hi folks and thanks again for stopping by the baliwaves (working through the weekends since 1999). For the latest news and hard to beat views on surfing, weather and all kinds of other stuff, from here on your favorite tropical surfing paradise of Bali.
Ok so here we go with the full photo gallery from cranking Uluwatu on the 18th of June. Sorry I had to run it cause I think you wouldn’t mind having a look at it either.
Yesterday the 19th and we were down at Bingin beach on the southern end of the island by 7.00AM. Our first view from the top of the stairs was of clean and glassy 2-3 foot waves breaking mechanically (as usual) over a very shallow volcanic rock ledge, stoked ! But within the hour it became obvious that the new swell was starting to arrive on the back of the in coming tide. By 9.00AM the waves were in the 3-4ft range, with bigger freak sets starting to show. We had 2 sessions in purfect waves on a hot and sunny day, warm water and boardies, not bad at all. I’ll get onto the Bingin photo gallery later this afternoon, it’s going to be huge !
Before heading back to Home Base we made a short detour a little further to the South of Bingin to Padang Padang. From our cliff side vantage point we were looking at waves in the head to double head high plus sector, but a little fat from the high tide that was filling
This morning the 20th and we’ve already got Ketut down on location at Padang Padang waiting to see if this years RipCurl Padang Padang Cup Trials event will run. Ketut has already phoned through calling in wave height at 4ft with maybe some bigger sets. Conditions are perfect with the ESE off shore Tradey already puffing at 6-10knot and the tide on the run out for a 0.9mtr Low at 9.00AM. So fingers crossed the ocean will provide enough swell for the RipCurl Padang Padang Cup Trials show down to run.
Weather wise outside this morning at 7.15AM it’s got that stormy feel to it, a little cooler, wind is fresh off shore and some big banks of cloud off to the South. Temperature wise right now it’s 25 degree’s Celsius, Humidity is at 82%.
Ok stay tuned and we’ll up date again through twitter and instagram.
I’ve also loaded up the latest Bodyboard photo gallery with over 100 photos in it. Plus the latest photo installment from our friends at the Kandui resort up in the Mentawai islands of Sumatra.
Don’t forget the up coming eco weekend and contests coming up this weekend. Check these links to find out exactly what’s going to be going down.
