BALI
9th July 2014
Hi folks and thanks for dropping by the baliwaves (doing what we do best since 1999) for the latest news and best views on surfing and weather conditions from here on the No.1 tropical surfing holiday destination of Bali (and G-Land).
I’ve gotta give a big thank you to the crew at Joyo’s G-land Surf Camp over in the Alas Purwo National Park of East Java for sending us through another insane photo gallery from G-Land. These photos have been nailed over the last week and I’m sure the boys and girls over in camp are still scorring perfect waves as I type.
Thinking of getting over to Joyo’s G-Land surf camp for some perfect waves this season ? Just hit this contact us link and baliwaves.com will hand you a 10% discount for your next G-Land surfing adventure, as simple as that.
This morning here in Bali and our 7.30AM surf check on the Outer Reefs of Tuban was showing some fun sized waves in the 2-4ft range. The tide was pretty well on the top of the high at the time so Kuta Reef and Airport Left were the better options. They were also attracting the most surfers with nearly 40 people in the line up. Around midday as the tide starts to drop Middle Reef should be the best option here in Tuban. Surfing conditions were clean and tidy with the off shore SE Trade wind fanning the waves at 10 – 12knot.
We’ve also loaded you up another smoking hot photo gallery from our friends at the Kandui Surf Resort up in the Mentawai islands so check it out as well while your here.
Weather wise here in Tuban / Bali so far it’s been a mainly sunny morning with some cloud drifting through. Right now at 10.45AM the mercury is sitting on 27 degree’s Celsius with the Humidity on 69%. Wind is SE gusting up to 10 – 12knot+.
Hopefully the schools of Tuna and Jack are still hanging around down off Uluwatu this afternoon because that’s where I’m going to be, cold, wet and loving it.
Changing dollars to Rupiah, — 1US$=Rp11,350 — 1AU$=Rp10,650 —
Swell alert, the swell prediction charts are still showing our next new swell system still on track and ready to slam into Bali late tomorrow night. So Thusday is looking like it’s going to be very solid and the possiblility of the 2014 Padang Padang RipCurl Cup running.
Travel Tip # 875, Ok look you’ll read on many websites and surf guide books about bringing extra cakes of wax and leg ropes and standard stuff like that. When in actual fact all that “extra” stuff can be found here in any of Bali’s surf shops and usually cheaper than what it costs you at your home surf shop right. So here’s just 5 items that you really need to bring with you.
1. patience
2. good manners
3. friendly smiles
4. respect
5. *common sense
Once upon a time traveling surfers were like a band of brothers, always being friendly and helpful to a fellow surfer. These days I’m seeing more and more zombie surfers around Bali. The type of people that have absolutely no intention of a simple friendly “hello” when passing by. Remember you are an ambassador of your country at all times once you leave it.
I know a guy that wants to sell 25% share of a resort in the Mentawai Islands, directly in front of Lances Left. You can see what the deal is at: http://www.surfersjournal.com/surf_property/kingfisher
