BALI
30th – 31st July 2014
Hi folks and thanks for stopping bu the baliwaves.com (battling with bad internet connections since 1999) for the latest news and no questions about it, best views on surfing and weather conditions from here on the friendliest of all the tropical surfing holiday destinations, Bali.
Just to let you know this surf report is coming live from an internet hot spot as my 2 servers at home have crashed since yesterday afternoon.
But anyway hows our current photo gallery from down at Uluwatu yesterday grab ya, sick or what !
Yesterday the 30th and as per my Twitter up dates our first surf check on the Outer Reefs here in Tuban was showing wave height still breaking in the 2-4ft range between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. Surfing conditions were clean and tidy with the wind just starting to swing to the East around 7.00AM.
It was Dano’s last day of surfing with us before he had to head back and help protect Aussie boarders so we opted to take him back down to one of his favorite, and Bali’s premier surfing location of Uluwatu. Arriving around 9.00AM as the tide was running in to find wave height screaming through in the 3-5ft range with a few 6 footers thrown in for good measure. The tide was running in hard so all the wave energy was focused on Temple’s and the Main Peak.
Temple’s was lining up some ruler edged walls and I’m pretty sure Flynn Novak was one of the stand out surfers pulling into and coming out of some super long and deep pits. While just about every surfer who was riding the Main Peak were also scoring extra long and deep dredging kegs (as above). Yesterday I was shooting with our 1000mm lens and 9fps Nikon D300. I would have loved to load the full sequence’s from each wave we have in this gallery but it would take me another day of editing.
Special hello to Lachie who went out for a body barrel on The Peak yesterday.
Driving home past Impossible’s and Padang Padang we could also see some long and walls bending down the reef on Impossible’s and I’m sure the bodyboarders would have been out at Padang Padang. We also even dropping by Balangan for a look see and there were also some nice waves breaking from the point right through the middle section
Weather wise it didn’t really matter when the surf is that good ! But just for the record it was a mainly hot and sunny day with a few clouds buzzing by.
Today the 31st and our 6.45AM surf check on the Outer Reefs was showing wave height to have dropped back into the 2-3ft range with a sometimes 4ft freaky hitting Middle Reef. Surfing conditions were perfect with the wind light out of the ENE.
Ketut has taken a run back down to Uluwatu with the 600mm lens and phoned through earlier to tell the waves were still pumping through the Main Peak and Temple sections in the head to double head high class. Faultless surfing conditions here again on Bali’s West coast.
Currently outside at 1.00PM the temperature is sitting on 28 degree;s Celsius, Humidity level at 72%. Wind direction is coming fresh out of the East 10-13knot.
