BALI
11th July 2014
Hello surfers and welcome back to yuor baliwaves.com (keeping you in the loop with Bali since 1999) for the latest news and hard to beat views on surfing and weather conditions from here on every sane surfers favorite tropical surfing holiday destination of Bali.
Ok sorry about no report yesterday we kinds got side tracked so we ended up taking the day off. But this morning we were back on it and down for a 6.45Am surf check on the Outer Reefs here in Tuban. Wave height between Kuta Reef and Airport Left was still only showing in the 2-4ft class with Airport Left picking up most of the SSW swell. Surfing conditions were clean and glassy with the wind light on shore outta the West.
So as it shows in today’s photo gallery I had our man Ketut Pica take a run over to the East Coast to shoot at Keramas. Arriving at 7.45AM my first text message Ketut sent was of 5-6 footers grinding through on the main break with only 10 surfers in the water. And as it does indeed show in the photos Keramas was putting on a free keg show with barrels all round for everyone.
Surfing conditions at K-Mas remained clean and tidy through until the SE Trade wind started to appear around 10.00AM and then gradually increased in strength.
Weather wise today there was a lot more sun shine happening for the beach lovers and a midday top temperature of 29 degree’s Celsius. Wind direction is now out of the SE at 9-13knot.
Ok so we’ve also loaded up another sick 40 strong photo gallery from our friends at Joyo’s G-Land surf camp and another surf up date and photos from the Mentawai islands C/- the Kandui surf resort so make sure you check them out as well.
Travel Tip # 875, Ok look you’ll read on many websites and surf guide books about bringing extra cakes of wax and leg ropes and standard stuff like that. When in actual fact all that “extra” stuff can be found here in any of Bali’s surf shops and usually cheaper than what it costs you at your home surf shop right. So here’s just 5 items that you really need to bring with you.
1. patience
2. good manners
3. friendly smiles
4. respect
5. *common sense
Once apon a time travelling surfers were like a band of brothers, always being friendly and helpful to a fellow surfer. These days I’m seeing more and more zombie surfers around Bali. The type of people that have absolutely no intention of a simple friendly “hello” when passing by. Remember you are an ambassador of your country at all times once you leave it.
I know a guy that wants to sell 25% share of a resort in the Mentawai Islands, directly in front of Lances Left. You can see what the deal is at: http://www.surfersjournal.com/surf_property/kingfisher
