BALI
14th – 15th August 2014
Howdy friends and another big thanks for calling by the baliwaves.com (bringin you a small piece of Bali each day since 1999) for the latest news and hard to beat views on surfing and weather conditions from the place everyone wants to be, Bali.
Just a quick laugh first, yesterday I had a quick search using the words Bali waves and I had to smile when there was so many other new websites trying to cash in our baliwaves logo. There was even one site in Russian for a surf school. So don’t be fooled crew there is only one original baliwaves and that’s us.
Ok we’ve got another huge 106 strong photo gallery for ya’s today featuring waves from the beach breaks of Legian. Then there’s Balangan, the long left hander over at G-land / East Java and of course the opening section with Bali’s premier surfing location of Uluwatu.
Yesterday the 14th and with the Outer Reefs of Tuban (re – Twitter) only showing wave height in the 1-2ft+ range the obvious choice was to head back down South to Uluwatu to find a little more size and power. We arrived at 9.00AM to find wave height in the 2-3ft (chest to head high) with a few bigger set waves hitting the Main Peak. Crowd wise there were around 80 surfers again, but spread out from Temple’s to the Main Peak and down through the Racetrack. As the tide passed through the top of the High towards midday we did see a bit of a pulse and almost enough to tempt us for another session, but not quite. (1000mm lens / Nikon D300)
Driving home past Padang Padang and Impossibles there wasn’t much breaking there, only just a few micro sized waves dribbling down the reef on Impossibles.
Ketut at the same time was also down on the bukit but he was on location at Balangan with the 600mm lens / Nikon D7100. You should be able to spot Ketut’s photos by the pretty beach side scenery. Wave height down at Balangan was also in that waist to chest high range with a few freak sets thrown in. Crowd wise as usual it was quite through the morning but by midday the European sector well and truelly awake and out there.
The beach break section in today’s photos was shot up along the Legian stretch of sand on the 13th. Small but fun as always up there around the Padma st area.
The last handful of photos are courtesy of Joyo’s G-Land Surf Camp featuring some G-Land perfection on the 13th.
Don’t forget baliwaves is still offering anyone of you a 10% discount on a surfing adventure into Joyo’s G-Land Surf Camp and the best waves of your life. Just contact us right here.

I’ve still got a big wad of Bingin photos from our mates at EGO SURF PHOTOGRAPHY to sort through and hopefully I’ll get time for that later this afternoon.
Weather wise yesterday it was just pure Bali sun shine and blue sky with a midday temperature of 30 degree’s Celsius and sun tans all round here on the holiday island.
This morning the 15th and our 6.45AM surf check on the Outer Reefs here in sleepy Tuban was still only showing wave height in the 1-2ft+ breaking between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. The tide was still on the bottom of the low and the wind blowing off – shore out of the ESE. Hopefully as the tide starts to run back in we might see a small bump in wave height, fingers crossed.
The next tide today will be a 2.2mtr High at 12.45PM.
Weather wise outside right now at 8.00AM we have a mostly sunny start with some clouds passing through. Temperature wise we have 26 degree’s Celsius, Humidity level at 80%. Wind direction is ESE – SE at 5-8knot.
