BALI
17th – 18th August 2014
Hello everyone and welcome back to your baliwaves.com (pumping out the Bali surf reports and photos since 1999) for the start of another surfing week and the latest surfing and weather information from your first choice tropical surfing holiday island of Bali.
The first half of today’s 61 strong photo gallery was shot by Ketut down at the premier surfing location of Uluwatu. While the second half was delivered to us from our good friends at EGO SURF PHOTOGRAPHY located right in front of the barrels at Bingin beach.
Today the 18th and our 7.00AM surf check on the Outer Reefs here in Tuban was actually showing a slight bump in wave height. The tide was still running out at the time but there was still enough water over the reef for all 3 of the main sections to be surfed, and they were. Wave height between Kuta Reef and Airport Left was a fairly consistent 2-3ft with some 4 footers hitting Middle Reef. Surfing conditions were pretty much as good as it gets with a light off shore SE wind.
Weather wise our day did start off a little gloomy with a few early morning drops of rain that cleared up by late morning for a mainly hot and sunny afternoon. Right now at 5.00PM the temperature is sitting on 28 degree’s Celsius, Humidity is at 66%. Wind direction is still coming out of the SE at 9-13knot.
Swell Predictions for the next 7 days are telling me that we should continue to have some small but fun sized waves through Tuesday and Wednesday backing through Thursday. Then a return of those small by fun sized stuff on Friday before we see a solid new swell system slam into Bali and most of Indonesia late Saturday and continue to push the tempo on Sunday. Then slowly tapering off on Monday next.
Take care dept: especially in the Seminyak shopping area if your in bali as there has been a spate of “snatch and grab” thefts in this area over the last week. What ever you do don’t carry your passports and all your cash around with you. Especially if your staying in a half decent hotel or home stay and always keep your wits about you no matter where your staying.
