BALI
27th – 28th August 2014
Hello everyone and thanks for stopping by the baliwaves.com (bring you the latest news from Bali since 1999) for todays news and views on surfing and weather conditions from here on the No.1 tropical surfing holiday destination of Bali.
Ok today’s 44 strong photo gallery shows Bingin Beach barreling off on yesterday the 27th. Thanks to our good friends down at EGO SURF PHOTOGRAPHY, and the last handful of wide angle photos were taken today over on the East Coast.
This mornings 6.45AM surf check on the Outer Reefs was looking pretty good with 3-4ft+ waves and a light off shore wind. I was expecting to see a little more swell, but that came a little bit later in the morning. With this new swell predicted as more out of the SW than the S and the light wind this morning we thought we’d slip over to the East Coast and see if we could score some un crowded waves. Pulling into the car park at 9.15AM we could hear the waves smacking down and new the swell was well and truelly hitting Keramas.
There were 10 surfers out on the main break with wave height in the 4-6ft range and some 8ft freak sets shutting it down. My guys chose not to ride and understandable as it was looking very mean and unforgiving. I hadn’t parked in the old “car park” for a couple of months and was dissapointed to see that the locals had opened up a captive dolphin pool right next door where people could come and pay to pat the dolphins. So Keramas has got it all over there now.
Weather wise it wasn’t a bad kinda day with lots of sunshine and blue sky here on the holiday island. Right now at 5.30PM the temperature is still a warm 27 degree’s Celsius, Humidity level is at 62%. Wind direction is coming from the SE at 7-13knot.
Traffic alert, today on the main highway heading East the traffic was hidious to say the least, so allow a little extra travel time if your out and about in Bali. Looks like being a busy weekend on the road. There is also a petrol crisis happening here in Bali with most petrol stations.. saying they are out of gas. With the truth be known we are just heading for another petrol price increase and a higher cost of living for the locals.
This Saturday night the 30th of August CHANNEL ISLANDS surfboards will be celebrating their 1st year here in Bali with food and drinks at their show room on Sunset rd Seminyak starting at 7PM. Live music and DJ, so turn up and have some fun.
Ok more swell again over the next few days and we’ll be getting in the water somewhere for shore tomorrow, so stay tuned to the original Bali surf report.
