BALI
20th – 21st September 2014
Hi everyone and thanks for stopping by the baliwaves.com ( there is only one baliwaves, since 1999) for our Sunday Session on surfing and weather conditions plus more from right here on the best value for surfing holiday dollar tropical destination of BALI.
Ok so yesterday while I was goofing off out fishing Ketut was down at Uluwatu with the camera equipment and as you can see in our photo gallery there were some nice waves breaking from Temple’s through the Main Peak and also down along the Racetrack as the tide dropped out. Ketut was calling wave height in the 2-4ft range with around 50 surfers spread through all sections.
Yesterday the 20th also saw a big turn up of locals here on our beach “Pantai Jerman” in Tuban for a couple of hours of cleaning. Ketut and I turned up at 7.30am to find everyone working together to make our beach cleaner for everyone. I think there’s more beach clean up’s scheduled in so I’ll check the dates and let ya’s know. Everyone is welcome to join in and hopefully we’ll get some more of the 100’s of “ex-pats” calling Tuban their home involved, ya never know.
After the beach clean up I pushed my boat down and headed South to see what I could find for our BBQ. It was pretty tough out there in an open boat for 6hrs getting cooked and even worse seeing school after school of Bonito Tuna chopping up the bait fish on the surface but not wanting anything to do with any artificial lures. I don’t know how many times I changed lures yesterday. But luckily I did manage to find one school that was interested and boated 3 before heading home.
I also really hope that the Bali / Indonesian government will do some kind of fish regulating soon before it’s too late. This time of the year see’s 100’s of big old fishing boats from Java converging on Bali’s waters and they are out there now, morning and night dropping their nets in close and out wide taking all the fish and exporting them straight out of Bali. Java is almost fished out and now they are wiping out the fish stocks around Bali.
Today the 21st and our 7.00AM surf check on the Outer Reefs here in Tuban was showing a nice little bump in wave height. There was some nice waves in the 2-4ft range breaking between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. The tide was high and the wind off shore with Kuta Reef and Airports looking the best at 2-3ft.
Weather wise pretty well nothing but blue sky and sun shine around Tuban today. Right now at 3.30PM the temperature is still a warm 30 degree’s Celsius with the Humidity on 62%. Wind direction is coming out of the East at 8-13knot.
Swell predictions for the next 7 days are again looking great with another solid swell expected to start showing late on Monday night and taking us through till Wednesday. Then another similar sized swell should come through on Friday to take us right through the weekend. I’ve always noted that September brings the most swell, and this year is totally living up to it.
