BALI
7th – 8th September 2014
Hello surfers and welcome back to your baliwaves.com (the original Bali (and only baliwaves) surf report website since 1999) for the start of another surfing week here on the No.1 tropical surfing holiday destination of Bali.
Ok so kicking off the show with a 40 strong photo gallery that Ketut shot over on Bali’s East Coast yesterday morning. Our man was on the scene by 8.00AM to find wave height in the 2-3ft class with clean and glassy surfing conditions, tide still running in. At the time there were already 20 surfers in the water and by the time Ketut packed up there were over 25 and the wind light on shore.
Me I took my family for a drive up into the mountains back for another visit to my traditional healer and hopefully the final treatment on my shoulder.
This morning the 8th and our 6.45AM surf check on the Outer Reefs here in Tuban was still showing small bu fun sized waves in the 2-2ft+ class between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. Surfing conditions were clean and glassy with only just a slight breath of Easterly wind at the time. Surfers in the water on all 3 main breaks and Middle Reef picking up the bigger waves.
I’ve also have a text message come through from our friends at Warung Cetut over at Keramas on Bali’s East Coast. Agung is calling in wave height today in the 1-1ft+ range with a light on shore wind. But still with 15 surfers in the water at 10.00AM.
Weather wise out there today there’s plenty of blue sky but there is a lot more cloud starting to fill in looking down to the South. Temperature wise right now at 10.10AM we have a warm 27 degree’s Celsius, with the Humidity at 81%. Wind direction is now coming out of the SE at 5-10knot and off shore from Kuta to Uluwatu.
The next tide today in Bali will be a 0.0mtr Low at 3.30PM and we will have a Full Moon rising tomorrow night, so expect to see the big tidal ranges for a few more days yet.
Over the weekend we had a spectacular Killer Whale sighting down at Uluwatu with a grown adult Orca swimming withing meter’s of surfers out in the water at Uluwatu, maybe it had it’s GPS turned off :-)
Swell forecast, it’s going to be getting better over the next week don’t worry about that boys and girls. We should see a slow building swell out of the SE starting to show tomorrow morning. Then basically it’s going to be new swell after new swell until next Sunday when we will see a big daddy swell smacking into Bali. September on average usually see’s some of the biggest waves of the year, so get ready for it.
Birthday Party time again with DC shoes celebrating their 20th anniversary this Saturday night at Deus Ex Machina in Canggu starting at 7.PM. Drinks and snack for all, so drop in and say hello.
