BALI
28th October 2014
Hello surfers and thanks big time for talking the time out to stop by the baliwaves.com (The one and only baliwaves since 1999, watch out for the imposters) for the latest news and best views on surfing and weather conditions from right here on the No.1 tropical surfing holiday destination of Bali.
Ok so our 6.30AM surf check on the Outer Reefs here in Tuban was showing wave height in the 1-3ft range between Kuta Reef and Airport Left / Right. The tide was still sitting on the bottom of the low and too shallow on KR and Airports. But Middle Reef on the other hand is best suited to the lower end of the tide and was producing some clean and glassy waist to head high waves.
I thought my crew and I would take a run up the coast and see what was happening at Canggu. Arriving at 8.45AM to find wave height in the 2-3ft+ range and with the tide running in. There were some ok lefts on the sand bar and echo reef with maybe 35 surfers scattered through both breaks. While the right hander was still empty and just starting to show some potential. Surfing conditions were clean enough but with the wind coming out of the South and cross / on shore. But all in all it wasn’t too bad.
My crew thought Uluwatu might have been a better option.. so we jumped back in the car for the 1.5 hour drive back down the coast. As it shows in today’s photo gallery wave height was a touch better again with solid 4 foot freak sets hitting Temple’s and the Peak. The wind was also blowing on shore at Uluwatu but by this time starting to increase in strength. Crowd wise it was a bit of a shocker (as expected) with around 120 surfers from Temple’s to the top of the Track. But it’s always a good day at Uluwatu I reckon.
Weather wise it was a mainly hot and sunny day here on the holiday island with some cloud cover passing through from time to time. Our midday Temperature would have easily busted through the 30 degree’s Celsius mark.
Ok so I know some of you Northern Hemisphere surfers and going to be heading “down under” to Australia for some shrimp and Fosters…. not too mention some cyclone super bank tube rides. So if your heading to the Gold Coast and want some where close by the waves and very comfortable then check out this link.
