BALI
10th November 2014
Hello everyone and thanks a million for dropping into the baliwaves (the one and only baliwaves since 1999) again today for the start of another surfing week and the latest news and best views from here on our favorite tropical surfing holiday island of Bali.
Well it has been another great start to the week here in Bali with plenty of perfect waves on both the East and West coasts of the island. This morning started off with hardly a breath of wind and some light cloud cover. The tide was pretty low early so with a couple of location options in place we had to sit it out until 7.30AM before we had enough water over the reef to make our move.
Our 6.30AM surf check on the Outer Reefs here in Tuban was also showing some good potential for waves with 3-4ft+ waves breaking between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. At the time, with the low tide Middle Reef was the only sane option, Middle’s being better suited to the lower end of the tide.
But we headed East hoping to find some good waves and some space. Our first stop was at Secrets and there were some nice waves happening but there was already a solid crew of around 20 surfers (the first time I surfed at Secrets was around 19yrs ago, my Japanese friend Akira Omata (RIP) took me there and there would have been 20 surfers in the water that day) so we passed on it and put plan B into effect. Arriving to find clean waves in the head to double head high class and only a handful of surfers in the water, so we hit it. As it shows in the photos surfing conditions were clean and tidy through until 10.30AM when the ESE wind started picking up.
Weather wise we got off to an overcast start but that didn’t last long, it never does here on the holiday island and before long the sun was powering up for another hot one on the black sand beaches of Bali’s East Coast. Right now at 3.00PM the temperature is still a warm 29 degree’s Celsius with the Humidy on 70%. Wind direwction is coming out of the E-SE at 9-13knot.
Next tide today in Bali is going to be a 0.6mtr Low at 5.30PM
Wave wise tomorrow it’s looking like backing off some but we should still be able to find something for ya’s. So stick it out with the original Bali surf report.
