BALI
27th – 28th December 2014
Hello again my Bali friends and thanks again for taking the time out to stop by the baliwaves.com (the one and only original baliwaves surf report website since back in 1999) for the latest news and best views from all over the World’s number 1 tropical surfing holiday destination on BALI.
Ok so today’s 40 odd photos in our gallery were shot from all over the island starting at Medewi way up on the Western end of the island to way down South at Bali’s premier surfing location of Uluwatu. We also made a quick pit stop in at Balian on the way.
But the best waves we found went down on the 27th of December which also happening to be Hari Raya Kuningan and the final ceremony / prayer day to finish off our Galungan period of 2014. We were up an on the road by 4.45AM and be lining for Medewi where we knew we’d be on the money for some long and fun waves. Pulling into the car park we were all smiles to see 3-4ft waves peeling off for a good 100 – 200yrds and no other surfers in the water. As you can also see surfing conditions were smooth as silk. My crew from baliwaves surfed for the most part of their 3 hour session by themselves which has gotta be a good thing right.
Later as the tide started pushing back in and the wind started to shift a little sideways there were a few other vacationer’s in the water plus a few of the Medewi local surfers including young 15yr old “Novi” who is an up an coming local shredder. Once again a big THANK YOU to the MEDEWI BOYS for their continued friendly welcome to their beach.
We also took a quick “toilet break” at Balian on the way home to find 3-5ft waves but with a lot of water / current moving around with 2 surfers braving it.
Yesterday the 28th and seeing it was my American friends last day of their surf trip we spent the morning chilling out down at Uluwatu. Especially as a few of the boys have never seen this classic and iconic set up. The sun was out and shining and I do have to admit you could have surfed if you were keen. But my crew was happy to just kick back and soak it up.
While we are on the subject of Uluwatu, the Uluwatu Boardriders Club will be holding their club contest tomorrow the 30th so if your here on the island and looking for something to do make sure you head down to Uluwatu and give the lads some support. Ketut will be down there with the camera equipment so stay tuned to the baliwaves if your not around.
This morning the 29th and our 6.45AM surf check on the Outer Reefs here in Tuban was showing 1-2ft waves mushing out from Kuta Reef down and through to Airport Left. Wind direction was coming hard out of the West at the time.
I’ve also had a text message from a mate at Balian this morning calling 1-2ft waves with a very strong sideway’s wind, no surfers in the water at 9.00AM
Weather wise today it’s a pretty ordinary one outside that’s for sure. Overcast and intermittent rain with the wind now gusty out of the W-SW and not looking good for waves anywhere.
Ok so not a lot happening in the surf department right now here in Bali but I’m hoping for some more clean waves before this year comes to an end. Take it easy out there where ever you might find yourself and we’d like to wish all our supporters great and new things coming your way in the NEW YEAR.
Traffic Kaos is upon us once again with domestic traffic doing their laps around all the all ready crowded main area’s of Bali, coupled with an over abundance of taxi’s hunting fares you’ll find it impossible to use the roads from Kuta to Seminyak through the afternoon evening time frame without being grid locked.
