BALI
1st – 2nd December 2014
Hi folks and thanks again for dropping into the baliwaves.com (Bali’s leading surf report website since 1999) for the latest news and best views on surfing and weather conditions from here on our favorite tropical surfing holiday destination called BALI.
Ok so as you have probably imagined wave height and weather conditions here on the holiday island are still a little outta whack with the changing of the seasons from dry to wet.
Ketut shot today’s photo gallery over on the East Coast yesterday the 1st. Seeing as though we had a small spike in wave height. And as it shows surfing conditions at Keramas were clean and glassy through the early part of the day with 1-2ft waves and even the odd freak head high set wave. It was around 9.00AM the wind started shifting to the SSW turning the waves to mush burgers. Ketut was also saying that maybe after too much tampering with, the river mouth is now entering the sea right in the middle of the break instead of off to the side where it’s been flowing for eons gone by (see the photos). Hopefully it will shift back to where it should be and not effect the waves.
On the subject a similar situation is happening at Canggu since the building of the new sea retaining walls or pathway to no where. The river mouth up there has shifted it’s entry point into the ocean. In my 44yrs of being a surfer I’ve seen a lot of bad moves from people messing with river and creek mouths not too mention retaining walls, but yet it still happens.
This morning the 2nd and our 6.45AM surf check on the Outer Reefs here in Tuban was showing wave height in the waist to chest high range between Kuta Reef and Airport Left / Right. The wind was already up fresh out of the North at the time so surfing conditions were a bit bumpy out there.
I’ve also included a couple of photos from our baliwaves Impossibles WEBCAM (hit the link) and feel free to check this out anytime you like.
The next tide today in Bali will be a 0.6mtr Low around 12.30PM
Weather wise the wet season has got off to a wet start with plenty of rain over the last couple of days and this morning is also looking dull and wet. Right now at 8.30AM the temperature is on 27 degree’s Celsius, Humidity level is on 89%. Big chance of another shower or two before the day is out.
Changing dollars to Rupiah on the streets of Kuta yesterday — 1AU$=Rp10,245 — 1US$=Rp11,875 —
Looking at our swell forecast for the next 7 days it’s not showing a helluva lot of action for us here in Bali. But if you know where to look you should still be able to find something to have fun on.
I’d also like to give a special welcome aboard to our friends at Quiksilver Indonesia for teaming up with baliwaves in 2014 and 2015. So hit their link and check out what they have got going on.
