BALI
10th – 11th December 2014
Hello everyone and welcome back to your baliwaves.com ( the original Bali surf report website since 1999) for the latest news and best views from here on every sane surfers first choice tropical surfing holiday destination called Bali.
Ok right so as you already figured out the surf and conditions have again gone to the shit house and well below ordinary for the usual perfect waves we are used to here. Yesterday the 10th and we even took another run up to Balian hoping to get away from the strong WSW wind that has been plaguing us. But only arriving at dawn to find an empty line up of 2-3ft waves and a howling on shore WSW wind. But by the way Balian is always a good spot for breakfast.
This morning how ever our 6.30AM surf check on the Outer reefs here in Tuban was showing a slight improvement in wave height with 1-2 footers breaking between Kuta reef and Airports with a fresh NW wind on it and that change in wind direction makes all the difference down this end of the island.
So we killed off a little bit of the low tide before heading over East to Serangan or Turtle Island as the guide books know it as. Arriving at 8.15Am to find some very clean and tidy little fun sized 2-3 footers breaking and only 10 surfers in the water at the time. So my crew were keen and straight out there. Surfing conditions stayed that way through until we had clocked up a solid 3.5hrs of water time.
Whats that old saying… “if you can’t paddle into the waves you shouldn’t be out there”
Special hello to Komang from Balanganwavesurfschool.com
My 5.45PM surf check on the Outer Reefs wasn’t looking as good with wave height looking to have backed off and the wind coming hard again out of the SW. But the charts are indicating another small bump in wave height for tomorrow so it’s fingers crossed again. But never the less we’ll be back out on the wave hunt so stay tuned to the original Bali surf report right.
I’ve also loaded you up a new video clip, filmed and edited by our friend and Uluwatu local surfer Made Ropik. It’s a short clip featuring his brother and Uluwatu local surfer Alik Rudiarta. So check it out it’s pretty good.
Weather wise today it’s been mostly overcast on both sides of the island but when that sun did bust out it was worht the wait.
