BALI
12th – 13th January 2015
Hi folks and thanks again for stopping by the baliwaves (keeping you in touch with Bali since back in 1999) again today for the latest news and best views on surfing and weather conditions from right here from the place I’m sure you’d rather be.
Ok so most of you I’m guessing are back at work or not far from it and the dust is finally starting to settle after Chrissy and New Years. Well here’s another 50 odd photos I shot over on the East side yesterday here in Bali, and as it shows it’s still cranking on the holiday island.
We turned up at Keramas around 9.45AM as the tide was on the run in. We would have been there an hour earlier only one of my crew left their new iphone on the breakfast table at their hotel (Legian Beach Hotel) so we doubled back to see if it was still there (30mins later) to find one of the Balinese staff had handed it in for safe keeping. Great to see that honesty is still in place and a valued asset here in Bali.
Our first view of the waves yesterday morning were showing it at chest to well over head high with a light off shore wind (NNW). So everyone was stoked even though there was around 30 surfers in the water it was coming through consistently. But within the hour the light wind started to shift more to the West South West and mostly on shore. But surfing conditions were still ok and clean enough to have some fun.
I’ve also loaded a couple of frames from the baliwaves Impossibles / webcam from late yesterday afternoon and a couple more from this morning. You can see that the wind here on the West side of the island has finally settled down.
Weather wise yesterday it was a pretty good day for the beach with a mostly healthy blue sky and a midday temperature in the mid 30’s on the Celsius scale.
This morning the 13th and our 6.45AM surf check on the Outer Reefs here in Tuban was showing some clean and glassy 2-2ft+ waves between Kuta reef and Airport Left. The tide was almost on the bottom of the Low so Middle Reef was the best option and there was a couple of surfers in the water at the time.
Ketut has taken a run down to the Southern end of the island to Bali’s premier surfing location of Uluwatu. He’s phoned in calling wave height in the 2-4ft class (chest high to over head) with clean and glassy surfing conditions and a few barrels bending down the Racetrack section. So I’ll be looking forward to checking his photos out when he gets back to Home Base around midday.
Weather wise we’ve got another mostly blue sky here in Tuban and for as far as I can see. Although we did have some super heavy rain through the early hours of the morning. Currently right now at 9.15AM the temperature is a warm 27 degree’s Celsius, Humidity is at 95%. Only just a breath of wind showing at the moment.
The next tide today in Bali will be a 1.9mtr High just after 3.00PM
