BALI
21st – 23rd March 2015
Hi surfers and a big thanks for stopping by the baliwaves again today for the latest news and hard to beat views on surfing and weather conditions from right here on the No.1 tropical surfing holiday destination we all love called Bali.
Ok well I would have had at least half of this report and photos up loaded yesterday only we had an over load of users and our admin section needed to take a break.. But all good again now so hook in.
Well as you all know by now we have just finished our “Nyepi Day” or Hari Raya Nyepi in Indonesian. The day where Bali devotes a whole 24hrs to silence and darkness. For me the day always goes to quick and I’d be happy if it were 48hrs, but I can imagine for the anxious visitors to Bali it’s a long day.
I have included some photos of the Ogoh Ogoh creations that were parked along Kuta Beach, these creations used to be burnt but are now put on display.
Yesterday the 22nd and after feeling a strong ESE wind howling all day on Nyepi Day we were hoping to feel the Tradewind blowing again. So we headed down to Balangan for an early surf check. On arrival wave height was breaking in the 4-5ft range with 1 or 2 clean up 6 footers thrown in for good measure. Surfing conditions were clean and glassy through until around 9.15AM when the wind dedicated to the West.
Today the 23rd and knowing that there was still going to be plenty of swell we opted to sneak over to Serangan beach on Bali’s East Coast. Arriving just on 7.30AM to see wave height peaking up in 4-6ft+ A Frame’s peeling off perfectly left and right. Surfing conditions were also just as good with a light off shore WNW wind. There was already 4 other surfers in the water but no shortage of waves hat were coming through pretty much non stop.
Numbers did increase to around 15 on the Peak but as the tide started filling in for a solid 2.6mtr High it was like Huey just turned off the swell tap. Surfing conditions still remained clean and tidy until we packed up around 10.45AM but the sets were only coming through in the 3-4ft+ range. I’d also like to wonder where all the Rp5,000. entrance fee’s (road repairs) are going to at Serangan as the road in is totally rutted out and in bad need of repair.
This afternoons 5.00PM surf check on the Outer Reefs here in Tuban was showing wave height to have backed down into the 2-3ft class between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. The tide was still running down for a reef exposing 0.3mtr Low and the wind cross off shore out of the SSE.
Weather wise it’s been perfect beach weather with stacks of blue sky and warm midday temperatures in the low 30’s on the Celsius scale, and it only gets better and better in Bali from here in.
