27th May 2015
Hello surfers and thanks for stopping by the baliwaves (since 1999) for our latest news and hard to beat views on surfing and weather conditions from here on your favorite tropical surfing holiday island of Bali.
Ok so check out this mega gallery with over 100 fresh photos from Uluwatu yesterday. The local boys were out tuning up for the up coming event this weekend and some great surfing on display.
My first surf recon on the Outer Reefs yesterday morning was at 7.30AM to find wave height was still on ly in the 2-3ft range between Kuta Reefs and Airport Left. The tide was still running out at the time and the wind light on shore from the NW.
There was a promise of some new swell in the charts for the 27th so we headed South down to Uluwatu to see what was going on. At first sight wave height was only in the 2-4ft class from Temple’s down through to the Racetrack. But as the tide bottomed out around midday there would have been a few 6 foot freak sets hitting Temple’s and the Peak. Surfing conditions were clean and glassy through until the SE Tradewind kicked in around midday.
Weather wise, hot and sunny
Right now at 5.20AM on the 28th it’s still too dark for a surf check but we are just about to load the boards on the roof and hit the road for a dawny. So stay tuned to the baliwaves through Twitter and Instagram ok.
Travel Tip; I’ve seen a lot of airline damaged surf boards this year coming from all points of the globe, and that’s the last thing you want to find when you un pack your boards. So make sure you pack them up nice and secure cause those airlines don’t give a shit about your shooters.
ATTENTION; The Uluwatu Boardriders Challenge will be kicking off again this month on the 29th to 31st. This surfing contest is open to any surfers wanting to surf in the Open or Masters category and is going to be fun fun fun while it’s on. Just imagine surfing perfect waves at Uluwatu with only 3 other surfers in the water.. Contact us and we’ll put you in touch with the organizers.
