BALI
2nd & 3rd July 2015
Hi friends and welcome back to your baliwaves (keeping you in the loop with Bali / Indonesia since back in 1999) for our latest news and hard to beat views on surfing and weather conditions from right here on our favorite tropical surfing holiday destination of Bali.
Ok so yesterday the 2nd we put in another big day with yest another road trip up the coast to Medewi. Arriving on the scene just as the sun was dawning to find wave height in the waist to head high and a clean off shore wind on it. We were hoping to score a little more size but we were still happy to get out there and have some fun. Especially seeing as though there was only one other surfer in the water at the time. And I think by the time we were packing up the crowd would have only peaked at maybe 15 surfers in the water.
This morning the 3rd and our 6.45AM surf check on the Outer reefs of Tuban was showing wave height in the waist to head high range between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. Surfing conditions were clean and glassy at the time and there were surfers on all sections.
So we decided to head back up to Canggu here on the West Coast. Arriving at 8.00AM to find some nice little waves in the 2-4ft class and a clean off shore wind. But it wasn’t too much longer after we hit the water the SE Trade wind kicked in hard blowing cross / on shore at Canggu. We were also lucky this morning to see some baby sea turtles hatching out of their nest and make their way down to their new home in Bali’s ocean.
So seeing as the wind cut our surf session short we jumped back in the car and made our way back down to Legian beach and another continue our session at the beach breaks of Padma street. Wave height there was only in the 1-2ft+ range but surfing conditions were clean with the wind more cross / off shore.
Weather wise this morning at Canggu it was cloudy and cool with the water temp just as cool for those acclimatized to the usual Bali warmth. But all good and by late morning the sun was blazing away again for a hot and sunny afternoon here on the holiday island.
