BALI / INDONESIA
19th – 20th July
Hello peeps and welcome back to your baliwaves (keeping you in touch with Bali since way back in 1999) for the start of another surfing week and the latest news and best views on surfing and weather conditions from here on the best value for tropical surfing holiday dollar destination of Bali.
OMG, how lucky was Mick Fanning yesterday. If there were no jet skis to assist and get him out of there it could have been all over.
Lets get the ball rolling with these 54 photos that we shot up along the stretch of Kuta beach breaks yesterday morning was the tide was pushing in. A lot of surfers write off the beachies in Kuta but the truth be known they are some of the most consistent quality waves on the island. And talk about just how many different banks there are on offer from Kuta all the way up to Seminyak it’s incredible. Usually you will find the best waves on the mid to top end of the tide. But there are some low tide banks on offer if you do a bit of looking.
Today the 20th and our 6.45AM surf check on the Outer Reefs of Tuban was still showing some swell out there with 2-4ft waves breaking between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. The tide was just starting to push back in and the SE off shore Trade wind wasn’t yet blowing a gale. Middle Reef was looking the best being better suited to the lower end of the tide and there were surfers already in the water. Right now at 9.45AM there would be enough water on Kuta Reef and Airport Left / Right but you could expect some bump on the wave face with the strong off shore wind.
The baliwaves free to view WEB CAM that we have located over looking Impossible’s down on the bukit was also showing some 2-3ft waves peeling off this morning while the tide was still running in.

Ketut has gone for a run down to Uluwatu with the camera equipment this morning and has phoned through calling in wave height at 3-5ft (head to double head high) from Temple’s through to the Racetrack sections. When I asked him how it was quality wise he replied “you know pretty average, it’s barreling down through the Racetrack and a few tubes on the Main Peak and up at Temple’s” yeah right, sounds pretty good to me stuck here at home.
I’ve also loaded a fresh photo gallery and surf report thanks to our mates at Joyo’s G-Land Surf Resort so check that out cause it’s looking pretty perfect over there as well. Just drop down our surf reports menu and select G-land.
Weather wise this morning here on the island of the Gods we have a mostly blue sky with some cloudy patches looking down to the South. Temperature wise the mercury is on 27 degree’s Celsius (9.45AM), Humidity level is at 83%. Wind direction is blowing straight off shore here on the West Coast, East at 20km per hour. So if the cold weather at your town is getting you down you know where to come right.
Anyone going to G-Land this year should contact us here at baliwaves.com and claim your 15% money back in your pocket discount at Joyo’s G-Land Surf Camp. New “GFORCE” Ocean going Speed boat. Don’t forget to check out our G-Land Surf Report page thanks to Joyo’s G-Land Surf Camp.
