BALI / INDONESIA
23rd – 24th August 2015
Hello surfers and welcome back to your baliwaves (keeping you in the loop with Bali since back in 1999) for our latest news and the best views on surfing and weather conditions from here on the only sane choice for your next tropical surfing holiday destination, Bali.
Yesterday mornings 6.45AM surf check on the Outer Reefs of Tuban was showing some 2-3ft waves breaking on Middle Reef. At the time the tide was too low for Kuta Reef or Airport Left / Right and still running out. Surfing conditions were clean and glassy though with the wind light and variable.
So we hung out and had a lazy breakfast before making our way down South to Balangan beach down on the bukit. Arriving to find only a hand full of surfers in the water with wave height also in the 2-3ft class (waist to head high). By this time (9.45am) the SE off shore Trade wind had already kicked in so surfing conditions were clean and tidy. As the tide eventually started to run in and we did see a little extra pulse in swell delivering some over head set waves in the solid 4ft class. As always Balangan always breaks the best on that mid tide mark.
I also put a couple of frames into today’s photo gallery from our Impossible’s free to view Web Cam and it looked like there was some fun waves peeling down the reef there as well. Unfortunately for us it appears that some wasps have made our web cam into their home and it’s going to be good fun, not, to clear them out.
I haven’t made it down the beach yet this morning but I am thinking that wave height may have picked up a touch more, well that’s what the latest swell forecast is saying. At the very least it shouldn’t be any smaller than yesterday out there today and we will soon find out. So stay tuned right here to the original Bali surf report website. Plus keep an eye on our Twitter and Instagram feeds through out the morning for more surf up dates and images from here in Bali.
I also have to say that baliwaves on Facebook has just clocked up over 110,000 likes, thanks again peeps.
Changing dollars to Rupiah on the streets of Kuta, — 1US$=Rp13,900 — 1AU$=Rp10,060 — 1EU$=Rp15,565 —
Traffic in Kuta, if there was half the amount of taxi’s on the road the traffic would flow normal like. There is almost 1taxi in Bali for every tourist and it’s a traffic jam joke.
We’ve also been given a new water proof HD camera the X PRO 1 from TecTecTec to test out. So stay tuned for our new “product review” that’ll be on baliwaves very soon.
