BALI / INDONESIA
20th – 21st August 2015
Hi surfers and thanks for dropping into the baliwaves (keeping you in tune with Bali since back in 1999) for our latest news and the best views on surfing and weather conditions from here on your first choice tropical surfing holiday destination of Bali.
To start off today’s news I take you have already had a flick through our latest photo gallery (74 photos) that we shot down at Uluwatu yesterday. We arrived down at Ulu around 8.15AM to find wave height had picked up a little, breaking in the chest to well over head range from Temple’s the Main Peak and down through the Racetrack for a few hollow tube rides while the tide was still lowish.
Crowd wise when we turned up there was a grand total of 22 surfers spread through the entire line up. Surfing conditions at first were clean and glassy with the wind a very light Northerly. As the morning progressed the wind swung more to the West and then to the South before the SE Trade wind finally kicked in around midday.
Weather wise down on the bukit yesterday it was a mostly fine and sunny day with just a few clouds passing by from time to time. Typical Bali weather right.
This morning the 21st and our first 6.15AM surf check on the Outer Reefs of Tuban was showing wave height in the 2-2ft+ range between Kuta reef and Airport Left. The tide was low at the time so there might have been a couple of slightly bigger freak sets hitting Middle reef as the tide started to push back in. Surfing conditions at the time were clean and glassy with the wind light outta the NNW.
So Ketut thought he’d take the camera equipment for a run over to Keramas on the East side of the island to see what was happening. Ketut arrived just as the tide was pushing back in to find the wind had already started to turn to the ESE but with already 20 surfers in the water.. But the waves were still clean enough and it wasn’t long before a few of the local surfers turned up and put on a show for the guests at the resort. We’ll get Ketut’s photos edited and loaded up for ya’s asap.
Weather wise it’s been, yes that’s right. Just another hot and sunny day here in surfers paradise. Temperature wise right now at 3.00PM the mercury is still sitting on a warm 28 degree’s Celsius, Humidity level is at 75%. Wind direction is coming outta the SE at 10 – 12knot.

We also loaded you up a new G-Land surf report and photos thanks to Joyo’s G-Land Surf Resort.
Traffic in Kuta, I had to go for a drive earlier this morning that took me through Kuta and Legian and I have to say that if there was half the amount of taxi’s on the road the traffic would flow normal like. I swear at one stage there was 8 taxi’s in a row in front of me, all empty and all sitting on 15k’s backing up the traffic. There was probably an equal amount going in the opposite direction. 1 taxi in Bali for every tourist and it’s a traffic jam joke.
