BALI / INDONESIA
6th – 7th September 2015
hi folks and thanks again for dropping into the baliwaves (keeping you amped up for your next Indo surfing adventure since back in 1999) for our latest news and the best views on surfing and weather conditions from right here on our first choice tropical surfing holiday destination of Bali.
Ok so yesterday the 6th of Sept and we were up early and on the road hoping to find a little a few waves. We knew it was going to be small but hey we had to try right. So we headed for Keramas over on Bali’s East side arriving at 6.30AM to find 1-1ft+ waves and the wind already on shore outta the East. There was also 6 surfers already sitting in the invisible line up. So we called a lay day and my crew opted for an afternoon session here on the Outer Reefs of Tuban. Even then the boys reckoned it was only waist to should high at best and also busy.
This morning the 7th and again we were up and on the road before sun up. We were hoping that the predicted new pulse of swell (19 – 21 second period) would already be showing on the East Coast so we headed back to Keramas for a sus out. Arriving at 6.30AM to find wave height still only in the 1-2ft+ range with 16 surfers already sitting and waiting for waves. While we were there we saw 4 waist to chest high waves break in 20 mins. Surfing conditions were fine with the wind light off shore.
So we bailed and headed to Secrets for a look, and it did look worthy to me with chest to head high waves breaking on the beach break and the wind still holding off for glassy conditions. There were no surfers in the water at this location. But I did notice that there appears to be some new development work going down at Secrets so maybe soon this location is not going to be so secret…
My crew finally gave the thumbs up for a paddle at Serangan and I have to say it wasn’t looking too bad even though the wind had started to swing cross / on shore, that’s where the bulk of today’s photo gallery was shot at with our 1000mm lens. Wave height was a fairly consistent 2-4ft and there were only 5 surfers in the water counting our 2 surfers.
Weather wise early this morning we did drive through a few drops of rain up near Keramas. But now at 1.00PM we have a mainly hot and sunny day here in Tuban on Bali’s West Coast. temperature right the mercury is sitting on a warm 29 degree’s Celsius with the Humidity at 75%. Wind direction is coming out of the ESE at 7-10knot.
Ok folks that’s us for today, but make sure you take a look at the latest video clip I’ve loaded up yesterday from our friend Sam Ross that features some really cool drone footage from all over Bali.
