BALI / INDONESIA
21st – 22nd January 2016
Hi peeps and thanks again for stopping by the baliwaves (keeping it real since back in 1999) for our latest news and the best possible views on surfing and weather conditions from right here on the World’s No.1 tropical surfing holiday destination of Bali.
Well we have certainly been putting in the miles over here on the hunt for more waves and less crowds the last couple of days. This latest 50+ photo gallery I’ve just loaded was shot on the 21st while were up the West Coast surfing at Medewi. Our crew was pretty stoked to be surfing this long left hander in clean and glassy conditions. The number of surfers in the water did get up to maybe 25 but with the better waves peeling off for almost 200mtrs it was hard to go wrong. A big thanks to the Medewi Board Riders for sharing their waves with us.
Yesterday the 22nd and with light winds and a rising tide we thought we’d slip back under the radar and head down to Balangan beach for a look at what was happening. And as it turned out we arrived to find wave height in the 2-3ft+ sector with maybe 8-9 surfers in the water. It wasn’t all time perfect Balangan but it was still fun for all.
Weather wise yesterday it was a hot a humid morning with light and variable wind. Then around 12.00 midday the rain clouds blew over coming outta the SSE and dumped quite a lot of much needed rain. The wind also switched back to the SSE – SE and off shore again, win win situation.
Right now (23rd Jan) here in Bali it’s just gone 4.30AM and as soon as I get this on line for ya’s I’ll be walking up the lads to go and do it all again, surf, eat, sleep, surf, eat sleep etc etc. So keep an eye on our Twitter and Instagram feeds through out the day. We have also been streaming video live from a few locations with the help of Periscope that turns my smart phone into a mobile web cam. So check out Periscope.com and get the app for your phone then follow baliwaves and you will get notified when we are streaming live from here in Bali.
We have also been sent some photos and surf reports from our mates at the Kandui Surf Resort / Mentawai Islands so check that out while your here on the original Bali surf report page.
