BALI / INDONESIA
12th – 13th January
Hi folks and thanks again for dropping into the baliwaves (helping to get you amped up for your next Indo surfing trip since back in 1999) for our latest news and the best possible views on surfing and weather condition s from right here on the World’s No.1 tropical surfing holiday destination of Bali.
Ok to get the ball rolling again here’s 70 odd photos that we shot at Canggu yesterday. Well actually Ketut shot while I went surfing, bahahaha. We arrived on the scene around 8.30AM, just as the tide was running back in to find some very good looking waves breaking on all 3 of the main sections at Canggu. Wave height as it shows was almost pushing the double head high on the bigger freak sets, with the right hand river mouth section of Pererenan delivering the goods. As one would expect the local surfers were totally blowing everyone away with some extremely hot surfing in near perfect waves. There were around 28 surfers on the right hander while I surfed the left hander on the Sand bar with only 3 others.
Weather wise there was a couple of clouds about early but after they drifted through it was just a hot and sunny summer’s day here in Bali.
Today the 13th and there was no rest for our crew we were up early and on the road up the coast to score some long fun waves with our local mates at Medewi. Arriving just on 7.AM (cause that’s what time the cafe opens for coffee) to find chest to slightly over head set waves that, as the tide started to fill in were peeling off for a good 200mtrs. We were pretty much taking turns with the half a dozen surfers that were also in the water. It’s a long drive up there (too far for motor bikes, or any sensible motor bikers anyway) so that always helps to keep the numbers down, well worth the effort I say.
Weather wise it’s been just another super hot and sunny day, both up at Medewi and now back at home base in Tuban this afternoon. But we did get a good shower and a free car wash passing through Tabanan about half way home.
Ok friends of Bali that’s me I’m bushed and ready to head down the beach for a sunset beer, I reckon I’ve earned one or two after all the paddling, 13 waves x 200mtrs = thirsty. Ya don’t need a GPS to keep count just stick a little ball of wax down ya rail after each paddle back out, old fashoned yep but no batteries needed bahahaha.
Hey any of you peeps like to own a share in an Indo surf / dive charter boat, is that yes I hear ? Then click on the new banner at the top right hand of the page and just do it !
