On the morning of the 6th and Ketut and I were up along Kuta Beach for the first beach clean up of the 2016 wet season series. Not a bad turn up either for a sultry Saturday morning with around 30+ volunteers turning up in our group. I was the only foreigner who turned up in our crew. We managed to strip the beach of all rubbish for a good 400yrds within the hour. An exceptional effort and a big thank you to everyone who turned up and helped in playing a small part in keeping our beaches beautiful. Another big thanks to Coca Cola Indonesia and Quiksilver Indonesia / Mr Gino Andrias for organizing and keeping this program running. BTW by far the worst rubbish on the beach today was plastic drinking cups and plastic straws. I did not not pick up one plastic bag off the beach, well no shopping size plastic bags anyway. So all the hype on banning plastic bags is not really the issue. The problem is in food and drink packaging and there is no way that’s going to be changing. Tune into Periscope to check out the live streaming video I took from this mornings Kuta Beach Clean Up.
Keep an eye out on baliwaves for the next beach clean up which will be in around 2 weeks time from now, don’t let me be the only tourist helping out (on Kuta Beach)
