BALI / INDONESIA
11th – 12th March 2016
Hello friends and thanks for dropping into the baliwaves (keeping you in tune with Bali’s surfing scene since way back in 1999) for our latest news and the very best views on surfing and weather conditions from right here on the best value for hard earned tropical surfing holiday dollar destination of Bali.
Ok lets get it on, here’s 82 photos that we shot off down at Indonesia’s premier surfing location, namely Uluwatu. Our team was on location around 8.00AM just as the tide was pushing back in and wave height a solid 3-5ft with maybe even a slightly bigger one or two hitting the Main Peak. Surfing conditions as it shows in this photo gallery were clean and tidy through until maybe 11.30AM when a nasty squall of bad weather erupted bringing strong on shore wind and some sideways rain. But that only lasted for 45 mins and then the wind backed off again. Crowd wise yesterday it was a little full on for this time of the year and the flavor was definitely European.
Yesterday in the warung we always hang out at we had a little added excitement when a local fully grown male monkey decided to drop in and raid the table’s. It was funny watching everyone freak out and the monkey scoring the spoils. But I do have to warn ya’s that those monkeys may look friendly and fluffy but they can be nasty little pieces of work and my advice is to avoid them if possible.
Weather wise it was a basic hot and sunny morning before the midday storm then back to a warm and humid afternoon. Nb; even when it does rain here in Bali you will still be feeling 27 – 29 degree’s.
Today the 12th and we were back down the road to Uluwatu again. Seeing as though we knew the swell would be backing off and surfing conditions were pretty much the same with a light and variable wind. Wave height at Ulu this morning was still in the chest to slightly over head on the bigger set waves and sure enough the wind was light and variable. Crowd wise it was a bit lighter down there today but even though I did see plenty of dropping in and even some threats of violence go down, for an on shore head high wave. Not from any local surfer but only from the Caucasians.
Weather wise today has just been plain old hot and sunny with the midday temperature hitting 34 degree’s Celsius. Right now at 5.40PM the wind is coming pretty much straight outta the South at 3-6knot.
