BALI / INDONESIA
29th Feb – 1st March 2016
Hi folks and thanks for stopping by the baliwaves (keeping you in touch with the Bali surfing scene since back in 1999) for our latest news and the best possible views on surfing and weather conditions from right here on the only sane choice for your next tropical surfing holiday, Bali.
Ok just a quick one this morning folks as we need to get back out on the road and see if we can find some more waves. But here is 30+ photos from where we were surfing up Bali’s West Coast on the last day of February. And wow hey these months just keep rolling by so fast, March already. We pulled into the car park on the 29th to see 3 surfers in the water with 2-4ft waves peeling off and a clean off shore wind. That was at 7.00AM and by the time we got into the water the 3 other guys had already finished, leaving just my crew in the water by ourselves for the next 2hrs. I didn’t need a GPS watch to count my waves or know how far I had paddled or how long my longest wave was. My arms and shoulders were aching and I had 15 blobs of wax stuck along my rail as wave counter with the average wave running 150mtrs.
Weather wise it was a mostly hot and sunny morning up on Bali’s West Coast.
Yesterday the 1st of March and wave height was all but gone here on the West side. We took a run up to Canggu in the morning to see if we could get wet on a shore break or two and that’s about all there was. Wave height was in the 1-2ft range with the wind fresh on shore out of the WSW.
This morning the 2nd of March and right now at 8.10AM we have a mostly over cast sky. The mercury has already reached a humid 30 degree’s Celsius and the Humidity is at 68%. Wind direction, what there is of it at the moment is a light NW and will probably vary around for the next couple of hours.
Changing dollars to Rupiah on the streets of Bali, the best I saw yesterday was — 1US$=Rp13,340 –1AU$=Rp9,510 —
Ok friends have a good one and keep an eye on our Twitter and Instagram feeds through out the day for more info and photos.
I hear there has been some severe travel warnings for Bali of late, this usually happens every year around this time of the year. The time of the year when Aussies start planning their winter get away to Bali. I’ve heard warnings on just about everything from terrorist alerts, volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, mud slides, spiked drinks, theft, corruption, Dengue fever and Bali belly. If anyone wants somewhere safe, surf orientated and quite to stay here in Bali just contact me.
