BALI / INDONESIA
9th – 10th April 2016
Hello everyone and thanks for stopping by the baliwaves (bringin you a little bit of Bali since back in 1999) for our Sunday Session on surfing and weather conditions from right here on every sane surfers favorite tropical surfing holiday destination of Bali.
Ok troops as you know by now the surf was pretty ordinary (for Bali) on the 8th. So yesterday the 9th we were up pre dawn and on our way back up the coast to Balian. Balian has a serious bombie out behind the main break that seems to pull in every bit of swell and then channel it into the A frame peak. Balian is definitely not the most powerful wave but does tend to pick up more swell than just about anywhere in Indonesia.
Anyway yesterday we were on the money and scored some head to double head high waves on our visit. Surfing conditions had also come to the party with a light and clean off shore wind through until late morning then turning cross / on shore. Another thing about Balian these days is that it’s been quite awhile sine this was a secret location. Nowadays it’s very popular with the new European / Russian surfers that are booming. Crowd wise yesterday I’d say the numbers topped out at 50 scattered through the line up.
Weather wise yesterday it was pretty hard to beat as well with nothing more than blue sky and sun shine. Although we did hit some cloud cover as we drove through Tabanan.
Today the 10th and our 6.45AM surf check on the Outer Reefs of Tuban was showing 1-2ft waves on Kuta Reef and Airport Left with a slightly bigger set wave hitting Middle Reef. Surfing conditions were clean and glassy with a light ENE breeze.
I also had a heads up from a friend at Canggu calling wave height in the 1-3ft range with cross shore conditions and mega numbers in the water on all 3 sections.
Weather wise outside right now at 11.30AM has a mostly blue sky with the temperature currently on 34 degree’s Celsius, Humidity level is at 69%. Wind direction is now coming out of the ESE at 4-7knot.
The next tide today in Bali will be a 2.6mtr High just before midday.
Ok peeps have a great Sunday and make sure you tune in again tomorrow for the start of another surfing week here in Bali.
Coming up on the 13th of April Keramas Beach will be closed to the surfing public for the annual JPSA surfing contest. I think it runs for the best part of a week.
Come to Bali for a week this September 2-9. Watch Tex Perkins (The Cruel Sea, Beasts etc) and Phil Jamieson (Grinspoon) perform 6 gigs in 7 days at Hidden Valley, Resort on The Bukit. Slick accom at unbelievably affordable rates.
