BALI / INDONESIA
14th June 2016
Hello everyone and thanks for taking the time out to drop by the baliwaves (keeping you covered in Bali since back in 1999) for our latest news and the best possible views on surfing and weather conditions from right here on the wave riddled tropical holiday destination of Bali.
Ok so it has been all systems go go go for us the last couple of day. This current photo gallery was shot over on Bali’s East coast at Keramas on the 14th. As it shows wave height was still only in the 1-3ft class before the swell started to show later in the afternoon. Even though the waves were small there was still the odd good one coming through and there wasn’t too many surfing in the water at the time.
Yesterday the 15th we were up early and on the road for Medewi where we scored some super long and perfect waves in the 2-4ft+ range. As soon as I get these photos on line for ya’s I’ll start cutting some photos from the 500 we shot up there yesterday.
This morning the 16th and Ketut took the crew over for a surf check at Serangan early this morning. But bad luck had the wind blowing on shore out of the East. So from there the boys headed down to the southern end of the island to Balangan. To find clean and tidy surfing conditions with well over head high waves peeling off and should keep improving with the tide running out.
Weather wise the last few days we have seen some heavy rain and thunder storms here in Tuban and other area’s of Bali, mainly just through the nights and early morning. Right now at 10.45AM we have a mostly blue sky with the temperature already a warm 30 degree’s Celsius, Humidity level is at 73%. Wind direction is coming out of the E-ENE at 3-7knot. Nb: normal “heavy rain” usually lasts for no longer than 20 mins or so.
The next tide in Bali today will be a 0.7mtr Low around 2.00PM
For some strange reason I have been getting messages from friends not in Bali asking if everything is ok ? Apparently the Aussie media has been hyping up disaster in Bali from floods, possible earthquakes & tsunami’s. Just let me reassure you that there was a quake off Lombok almost a week ago but nothing serious with a tremor that lasted for around 4 seconds, no tsunami. Floods well a new big swell just happened to coincide with a New Moon big tide (around 2.7mtrs if I remember correctly) and some beach side warungs built a little too close to the ocean copped some water flowing into them. These big tides occur every time we have a New or Full moon here in Bali, we just don’t always get a big swell happening at the same time.
So grab those cheap Bali plane tickets put those winter clothes back in the draws and come over here and have some fun in the sun.
