BALI / INDONESIA
1st July – 2nd July 2016
Hi everyone and welcome back to your baliwaves (keeping you on the ball with Bali since back in 1999) for our latest news and the best possible views on surfing and weather conditions from the only sane choice for your next tropical surfing holiday, Bali.
Ok so yesterday to start the month off wave height was pretty small at most locations around Bali if not flat. For example Uluwatu had afternoon waves in the waist to chest high class, but at least with a clean off shore wind and only maybe 30 surfers spread through the line up.
This morning we were expecting to see some fresh swell hitting our reefs and with the swell predictions calling a SSW direction. So the crew and I made a reasonably early run over to the East Coast to see what was going down at Keramas. On arrival it looked like wave height was still pretty small, but after a long lull we started to see some 2-4 footers breaking. Crowd wise it was almost at maximum numbers with around 30 surfers packed into the take off zone. There was also tempers flaring with some body boarding girl ranting and raving out loud for a good 15 mins that was audible from where I was shooting photos on the shore. Surfing conditions were clean and tidy through until around 10.30AM when the wind started to blow out of the ESE and slowly increase in strength. But all in all there were some nice waves coming through.
Weather wise it was as usual so hot standing on the black sand beach, no chance of any rain today folks.
Talking about the black sand beach, please take care walking along the beach in this area as while I was there I counted 3 hypodermic needles in the sand where I was standing, and that’s not unusual.
