BALI / INDONESIA
27th August 2016
Hi folks and thanks for dropping into the baliwaves (working thjrough the weekends since back in 1999) for our latest news and the best possible views on surfing and weather conditions from here on your first choice tropical surfing holiday destination, Bali.
This morning’s 6.45AM surf check on the Outer Reefs had wave height still showing in the waist to head high range between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. There was still plenty of water over the reefs but with the wind light and variable. I could see some surfers out on Middle Reef, which was getting the most swell as always.
But as it shows in today’s photo gallery we headed back down to Uluwatu hoping to score better waves. Arriving at Ulu around 8.30AM to find wave height only breaking in the 2-3ft range with the tide running out and wind light on shore out of the West. Even so surfing conditions were still clean and glassy for the 20 odd surfers already in the water. There was another 2 riders sitting way down at Temple’s as well. Even though the tide was running out wave height was getting bigger and more consistent, especially down at Temple’s.
Blood of the reef, This is for all the people that think it’s cool to learn to surf on Bali’s reefs. Today one of our crew hit the bottom after being blatantly dropped in on the shallow Racetrack section. The end result was a few stitches needed in his head and the end of his surfing holiday. Now my friend is an extremely experienced surfer, I’m also glad he’s fine and laughing it off. Use your eye’s and brain and don’t drop in when it’s shallow either, or any time for that matter !
Weather wise here in Bali today it’s been a mainly hot and sunny day, and about time right !
Ok friends this will do me for now but stay tuned for tomorrow’s Sunday Session.
