BALI / INDONESIA
26th September 2016
Hello everyone and thanks again for tuning into the baliwaves (keeping you on high alert for your next surf trip to Bali since back in 1999) for our latest news and the best possible views on surfing and weather conditions from here on the World’s No.1 tropical surfing holiday destination, Bali.
Ok troops just a quicky for now as it’s been a long day and I’ve still got a few more miles to roll yet. But this morning we were up and on the road early heading over to the East side to see is we could find some of the heavily predicted swell we were supposed to get. As it shows in today’s new photos wave height at Keramas was coming through in the 2-3ft+ range with clean and glassy surfing conditions lasting through till around 9.00AM. Some fun sized waves to be had, not a lot of barrels on tap and the usual number of surfers in the line up.
One thing that struck me before I even checked the waves this morning was the continuing amount of beach / sand erosion happening right in front of the break stretching down to Warung Cetu. It was only a just few years ago that there was 100mtrs of sand on the beach back to the rice field just on the North side of the river and a good 15 foot plus elevation from the water. Now there is around 20mtrs of beach and maybe 5 foot elevation. The same thing is happening a little further up the coast at another surfing hot spot. All from humans tampering with nature’s coast line is my guess. A couple more good swells and big tides and it will be an even uglier site to behold.
Weather wise today it’s been a very hot and sunny day here on the holiday island and I could feel that wet season humidity pushed up a notch or two. I’m thinking this rainy period we are going through is not quite the start of the wet season just a bitch of a weather system that is nailing us with heavy rain through the night and early mornings.
Also we would like to give a big Congratulations our friend ‘Mr Corox” of the Padma Boy’s for a well deserved win in yesterdays ASUS surfing contest that was run and won yesterday.
