Hello friends and thanks for tuning again to the baliwaves. Hey have you got a spare dollar or two for our new camera equipment appeal. Show some love and PayPal it to us, [email protected] Every dollar going to a good cause, keeping you in the loop with Bali. So far our total has reached AU$650.00 we really appreciate your help and support here folks.
On the morning of the 28th me and the boys from here at Home Base Bali made the call to take the run up the West Coast to Medewi. We ran the numbers and we were looking forward to scoring some long left handers. As it shows in this handful of photos Ketut blasted off wave height was in the 3-5ft range (head to double head high with a clean off shore wind. The only factor that wasn’t in our favor was the early morning high tide. This place actually breaks best on the higher end of the tide but it also attracts a lot of middle aged learners, no make that middle aged kooks being pushed into waves. While on the lower end of the tide the shallow bottom and all the rocks / sea urchins keeps them out. I really have to say that any person over the age of 10yrs old being pushing into waves are kooks and always will be, pure and simple. But anyway we had a great time and great to surf with some of my local mates up there.
Yes sir we had that much fun on the 28th and just like the heading says “too much fun to have in one day” So we went back up there again on the 29th. I am a driving machine ok. This time wave height had kicked in a little more and wave height on the sets was an easy tripple head high or 6ft with more of that clean off shore wind. Another great day was totally enjoyed and we were that happy the traffic jams from Tabanan through to Seminyak didn’t bother us at all.
Weather wise it was just pure holiday stuff with blue sky and hot out of the shade or surf.
Today the 30th and this morning the family and i took our dog for a 6.00AM walk / surf check at Patra Beach which is right in front of Airport Left. So while the kids were in swimming I was scanning the horizon for a sign of surf. At the time wave height between Kuta Reef and Airport Left was only just showing in the 1-2ft range at the very best. Surfing conditions were clean and tidy with a light ESE wind.
So just to keep the momentum happening we decided to go hit up the beach breaks of Legian for a fun paddle. By the time we arrived at 8.30AM wave height had started to creep up and the were some head to over head hit sets coming through. There are some really nice sand banks up along the beach breaks and we found a very nice little right hander peeling off and pretty much to ourselves for a good hour.
Wave height should keep creeping up a little more for us to start off the week before slowing backing off but we should be able to find some waves until our next good swell starts to shows next Sunday.
