Right then, today’s photo gallery was shot yesterday over on the East coast at Serangan. Wave height was only in the 1-3ft range but I think if you were riding the right type of board there were some fun waves to be had. I got caught out myself only taking my short board with me, so I just stood in the sun with the camera. Luckily it must have been a day off for most of the surf schools as crowd with on the main peak it wasn’t too bad at all. There was one surf school riding the northern reef and due to some of their learners not being able to paddle into a wave they were being pushed into waves, then not being able to paddle back to the line up through the 1ft of foam. They then had a jet ski dragging them back out to the line up, not going to learn a lot, but sounds like fun to me..
Weather wise it was brutally hot over at Serangan with no shade while shooting, I’d say the temerature late min morning would have easily been 35C.
Today the 8th and we were hoping for a little bit more swell to be showing so we were up at 5 and on the road by 5.30am and looking for some tube time. But bahahaha, our first surf check at Dragon fly point was only showing 1ft. But I still had time to drop off one of my old boards for a local grommet while we were there. From there we snuck up to Keramas for a look see, but also only to find waves in the 1-1ft+ range with 10 surfers in the water and tide already starting to run out. After that there was really no choice but to head back to Serangan where wave height was a little better at 1-2ft. My crew all hired soft top mals and infiltrated the surf schools and had some fun. While the best idea was a couple of our team rented a two man kayak and took her out for a spin, they caught the most waves and had the most fun I think.
Weather wise it’s been mostly over cast but no rain has fallen, warm and humid kinda day.
