BALI / INDONESIA
7th – 8th April 2017
Hello surfers and thanks for stopping by the baliwaves (working through the weekends since back in 1999) for our latest news and the best possible views on surfing and weather conditions from here on the best value for hard earned tropical surfing holiday dollar destination, Bali.
Ok so yesterday the 7th and surfing conditions and wave height was still ok, well compared to today it was probably fantastic. Ketut shot these current photos at the Gu yesterday morning before the gut busting Westerly kicked in blowing it out.
Today the 8th and it was a sad surf patrol this morning. The forecasters were calling a slight bump in wave height for this morning but it was in fact the complete opposite. Wind direction was also no good today coming out of the S-SW. We checked Serangan to find 1-2 ft waves with maybe 20 surfers in the water at 6.45AM. Then up to Padang Galak where wave height was only 1ft. No point in going further up the coast with the Japanese only surfing contest being run at Keramas. But I don’t think there would have been anything happening up that way anyway. We also took a run up to the beach breaks of Legian but unless you were desperate for 1-2ft waves with a strong on shore wind, we didn’t.
Weather wise it’s been a real winters day here in Bali, well for the locals anyway. Mostly cloudy and overcast with some rain, right now at 4.00PM it’s still looking pretty grim outside. It also doesn’t look real promising for the next week with a TC spinning out in the middle of the Indian Ocean at present and another one getting ready to build off the top of Western Australia in a few more days, spinning to the West and Indonesia.
Hopefully tomorrow we might see a slight bump in wave height (according to the forercasters anyway). We will be back out there looking for a wave so drop by the baliwaves if ya get a chance as we’ll be posting up dates in our baliwaves Twitter feed through out the day.
