Hi Peeps and welcome back to your baliwaves (delivering a little bit of Bali to you since back in 1999) for our latest news and the best views on surfing and weather conditions from here on the best value for hard earned tropical surfing holiday dollars destination of Bali.
Ok so as I mentioned yesterday the 29th Ketut and Wayan took our crew up the coast to Medewi. Not because that’s where we thought the best waves in Bali would be. No, because these were the kind of waves our friends Andrew and Penny were hoping to get to surf while they are on holiday here in Bali. So for them catching Medewi peeling off for up to 100mtrs at waist to head high was perfect. The tide was low early in the morning and that always keeps the crowd levels in the super low range. Yesterday Ketut said there were only around 5-6 other surfers in the water so that’s always a bonus if you come prepared for the exposed rocks of low tide. Traffic wise the boys reckon it was a smooth early morning run up the coast and a clear run back home until they got to Seminyak where the traffic was thick and slow as usual.
Today the 30th and Ketut was back out there with the camera gear (old), but at a much more serious surfing location by the name of Uluwatu. Ketut was down there on the scene from 8.30AM through till 11.00AM and reckoned there was some nice waves hitting all 3 of the Main section, Temple’s, Main Peak and still a few running down the Racetrack. Good sized set waves in the double to double head high plus range and not that many surfers in the water for the morning session. I’m going to down load his photos and sort them out for baliwaves as soon as I get this report on line ok, so stay tuned to the baliwaves.
Weather wise it was a nice warm and sunny morning with some cloud moving through around midday and now at 4.00PM we have a mostly overcast sky with the temperature sitting on 27 degree’s Celsius. Wind direction is still coming out of the ESE-SE at 10 – 15 knot.
Hey and get ready because Uluwatu Boardriders will be holding their annual Uluwatu Boardriders Challenge surfing contest early next month on the 7th till 9th of July. We’ll be there with bells on for the best local surfing contest of the year.
Channel Island surf boards here in Bali will be holding another massive surfboard sale on the 1st and 2nd of July (this weekend) so if your after a good board and a great price make sure you get down there and check out some boards. You’ll also be good for some free BBQ and drinks while your there. Their HQ is located on the Sunset road Seminyak pretty much just opposite Burger King.
