BALI / INDONESIA
7th July 2017
Hi peeps and thanks for stopping by the baliwaves (keeping you up to date with Bali since back in 1999) for our latest news and the best possible views on surfing and weather conditions from here on the only sane choice for your next tropical surfing holiday, Bali.
Ok well today was day 1 of the ULUWATU BOARDRIDERS CHALLENGE 2017 so that’s where we spent out day. We never got down there until 8.30AM and just caught the last few heats of the women’s so we didn’t get too many photos of the girls. But we did make it through all of the 1st round Juniors and some of the Open Mens before the sun got too far to the West and no good for shooting, I hate shooting into the sun, even with the lens we have. It sucks.
The early morning heats that went down while the tide was in were pretty tough for the girls and the kids with some solid 5-6ft set waves hitting the Peak and trailing down through the Racetrack section but it didn’t stop em from throwing everything they had into it. As the tide rolled out and the Racetrack section came into play there were some long and serous tube rides being set up and executed perfectly.
We will be heading back down there tomorrow to keep up our coverage of one of the best tube riding contests on the planet. And every surfer has the potential to take home the Rp1,000,000.00 “baliwaves best barrel prize” as a bonus. So good luck to everyone out there going for it.
Weather wise it was a shocker with a mostly overcast rain ladden day here in Bali. But she was still a warm and sultry day through it all as you would expect here in the tropics.
We also have some JULY ONLY accommodation specials so check out our deal and what you get below, you’d be crazy to pass it up.
