BALI / INDONESIA
10th – 11th August 2017
Hi everyone and thanks for stopping by the baliwaves (The original Bali surf report website since back in 1999) for our latest news and the best posible views on surfing and weather conditions from here on the World’s No.1 tropical surfing holiday destination. Not too mention, The Mentawai Islands, South Sumatra and G-Land.
Ok so here’s another mamoth sized photo gallery that we have shot over the last couple of days here in Bali. On the 10th we were back up at Canggu for the early session hoping to get a repeat of the previous days perfection. It was looking pretty good on arrival with similar sized waves in the 2-4ft class. But by 8.30AM the wind was already starting to swing to the SE in Trade Wind fashion and by 9.30AM it was pretty much over with strong cross / on shore wind. But as it shows in the first part of our gallery there were still a few nice ones first up.
Yesterday the 11th and as we were expecting a new swell to show we made our way down to Indo’s premier surfing location, namely Uluwatu. On arrival the tide was just starting to push back in and wave height was showing in the 3-5ft range. But within the hour we soon had 4-6ft and then 4-6ft with 8ft set waves breaking out behind the Peak and rolling cleanly through to the inside where the better surfers were setting themselves up for some long, thick and hollow tube rides (as you can see in the photos). Crowd wise it would have peaked around the 45 in the water. Surfing conditions were as clean as it can get early morning with the wind ESE but as the morning moved on the wind swung more to the SSE – SE and a little more cross / off shore outside but still clean off shore in side.
Today the 12th and it’s just gone 5.00AM here in Bali and as soon as I get this report tidied up we will be heading back out on the wave hunt. Stay tuned to our Twitter and Instagram feeds on baliwaves if you want to see whats happening ok.
I’d also like to Thank my main man at DIVERSE SURFBOARDS for delivering my brand new custom order. Haven’t seen a board as well made and finished as this new one since the last one I scored off DIVERSE. You will be seeing more of it as soon as I get back in the water…. soon.
Alright then I would like to give warning to all the parents that are bringing their toddlers to Bali and want to stay in the perfect villa set up. Just a few days back there was a tragic drowning of an Australian 3yr old here in Bali in a villa pool. Please take care as there are no such things as safety fences or gates for kids here in Bali in villa’s. And any parent knows how hard it is to keep track of their little ones every second of the day. So please take this into consideration.
Another important issue for the locals here in Bali especially with winter going down in the Southern Hemisphere and the season for super flu in Australia. Please don’t bring flu’s and virus strains with you on holidays. Make sure you get to the Doctor first before getting on the plane and infecting all the passengers and then maybe infecting everyone you come in contact with here in Bali. You wouldn’t go to work with the Flu so don’t bring it to Bali please.
