Hello surfers and welcome back to the baliwaves (the original Bali surf report your since back in 1999) for our latest news and best possible views on surfing and weather information from here on the World’s No.1 tropical surfing holiday destination, Bali.
Mt Agung, well our family village has been re evacuated yesterday and My Agung is puffing out smoke and ash. Bali’s airport is still operating as normal at the moment. For more information check the local news outlets I’ll post on our baliwaves Twitter if anything happens while we are out today chasing more waves. Lets all hope Mt Agung settles down and doesn’t blow.
On the surfing scene yesterday with the light on shore wind S-SSE that was blowing we thought we’d head over to the East Coast and check out Keramas. Keramas is known for it’s early morning light wind in most conditions and yesterday it was indeed clean and glassy out in the 3-4ft+ waves that were coming through. Unfortunately there just didn’t seem to be enough waves coming through for the hungry hotel crowd that was in the water and tempers were on edge for some of the Westerners visiting Keramas. I have to say that it was packed out and it’s not even wet season yet. The scary thing is that there are 2 more hotels ear marked for in front of the wave..
Weather wise it was over cast through out the early AM with the sun breaking out towards late morning and quickly pushing the mercury into the low 30’s on the Celsius scale.
Right now at 6.40AM on the 25th we have an overcast morning with the temperature already at 26 Celsius, Humidity is at 83%. Wind direction is coming out of the SE-SSE at 4-8knot. The tide is currently low and we are expecting a bump in wave height so I guess we had better get the hell outta here and go get us some waves. Stay tuned for more news and up dates through out the day via our Twitter and Instagram feeds on baliwaves.
Our friend Mr Bill Boyum has also sent us an extract from his new book Journals fron the Edge (Chapter 10) and I have loaded it up down in our news and stories section. So do yourself a favor and have a read how things were here on Bali.
