BALI / INDONESIA
22nd – 23rd September 2017
Hello everyone and thanks for tuning into the baliwaves (keeping you in the loop with Bali since back in 1999) for our latest news and the best possible views on surfing and weather conditions from here on the World’s No.1 tropical family surfing holiday destination, Bali.
Ok first just a bit of a heads up on our volcano situation, like I mentioned we have been in constant touch with our family up in the foot hills of Mt Agung since the activity began. Yesterday the 23rd we had the news that the village (around 75 house holds) had been evacuated, then 4 hrs later allowed to return home again. Yesterday afternoon the village was again evacuated and the on the scene scientists are saying there could be an eruption but can’t predict anymore. That’s the norm for volcano’s once they erupt then they have the information. This morning when I stepped outside at 4.30AM I could smell something burning but I’m pretty sure it was just some neighbors burning their rubbish. More news as we get it ok, as far as I know the airport is functioning normally and the surf is still pumping through perfect waves.
Alright then as you may have guessed we have been out there everyday surfing all kinds of waves all over the island. The last few days we have had a whole range of waves from 2-3 rights peeling off with no one else in the water to 3-5ft waves with a light crowd up the coast at Balian. It’s good to see the surfers returning to this place but I did notice there are quite a few hotels for sale in the area. I also did see a big brown fish jump out of the water while I was in the surf.
Weather wise yesterday it was mainly over cast with just a few patches of sunshine up the coast. But by the time we returned back to Kuta the sun was powered up and the sky mostly blue.
This morning the 24th we have a mostly clear blue sky and hardly a breath of wind outside right now at 7.00AM. Stay tuned cause we’ll be back on the road shortly hoping to see a little pulse in wave height over the next couple of days.
The latest news fronm Joyo’s G-Land Surf Camp is saying that there’s plenty of empty beds over there at the moment and a perfect time to get some long perfect lefts. Contact us here at baliwaves and we’ll get you over there with a solid discount.
