BALI / INDONESIA
10th – 11th October 2017
Hi folks and thanks for stopping by the baliwaves (keeping you in the loop with Bali since back in 1999) for our latest news and best possible views on surfing and weather conditions from right here on your first choice tropical surfing holiday destination of Bali.
Mt Agung up-date, nothing to report, business (surfing) as usual in Bali. Just wondering how many people actually cancelled their Bali holiday over the last month and coming months since the imminent eruption was predicted. But I guess a lot of news papers have been sold..
Rightio here’s a handful of photos that we shot down at one of our many favorite locations in Bali, Balangan, this was on the 10th. I’ve been surfing down at this place over the last 20+ years and it’s always nice to visit. The wave itself is a very fast and shallow type of set up, not really ideal for the type of new learners that frequent it these days with the majority of waves peeling off at beyond make able speed. But if your patient and know what to look out for you can score some 100yrd+ rides. And on the higher end of the tide the Balangan Wave surf school does offer popular surf lessons on the gentler inside waves.
The 10th was no different with 3-4ft waves, head to well over head high and a clean off shore SE wind. There was a lot of close outs but I still managed to wait for a couple of nice and long peelers and racking up some good wave time. There was also some nice tube rides going down on the point section. lunch after a paddle in the shady easy going local owned warungs, sitting back and enjoying the scenery on the beach, life’s good at Balangan
Ok just a quick one for Balangan, I have just load up a lengthy surf report and solid photo gallery from our friends up at Nias on the baliwaves so make sure you check that out, if you haven’t already that is. I’ve also got another solid photo gallery from the crew at Bingin Beach to get loaded. Plus another mega photo gallery and surf report from where we were yesterday down at Uluwatu to edit and load up. So stay tuned right here to the original Bali surf report website.
One more thing here’s a big shout out to ex fireman Stephen Apps from Bondi Beach in Sydney for hanging out with us the last 3 days here in Bali. Stehpen absolutely milked us for all the money saving info he could while with us and left us yesterday with not even a thank you. It does take all sorts of people I guess.
