BALI / INDONESIA
3rd – 4th October 2017
Hello everyone and thanks for stopping by the baliwaves (keeping Bali surf reports real since back in 1999) for today’s news and our best possible views on surfing and weather conditions from right here on thge best value hard earned tropical surfing holiday dollar destination of Bali.
Mt Agung up date, well what can I say I’ve stopped following the doomsdayers on facebook and tired of all the fake news. Especially tired of all the media propaganda saying how dangerous Bali is. I also feel sorry for the over cautious holiday cancellers who listened to the media. Hey and look if Mt Agung does blow it’s not going to be affecting anything down on the holiday end of the island anyway. Lets just keep waiting and waiting and see what happens, but don’t let it change your day too much ok.
Ok back to the business at hand, and that be surfing right. Yesterday the 3rd and we did a stealth dawn patrol over to the East coast and as my calculated guess predicted, scored. Arriving to find 4 surfers in the water, clean off shore wind with well over head high sets lining up all but perfectly. Crowd wise it did reach 20 in the line up at one stage but was averaging around the 15 mark for both our sessions.
This morning the 4th and we set off just after sun up and managed to find some waist to well over head high left and rights. Surfing conditions were clean and glassy through until the SE Trade Wind kicked in early at 7.40AM. The waves stayed pretty clean until maybe 8.30AM when the wind startedto get up some gusto.
Weather wise right now at 12noon the temperature is sitting on 30 degree’s Celsius and might go a bit higher yet. Humidity is at 73% and the wind is coming out of the at SE-SSE at 10-14knot.
It’s pretty obvious out on the streets that Bali has lost a lot of Western tourism from the possible volcano eruption. But now it’s so damned obvious that the main reason that there is any traffic jams is the amount of empty taxi’s driving around at 15kms/ph.
I’d also have to admit that the lunch time / afternoon traffic down on the bukit (southern end of the island) is now worse than it is in Seminyak.
Ok crew hang in there as there is some new swell in transit to Bali and we will be all over it when it gets here.
