Hello everyone and thanks again for tuning into the baliwaves (doing our best to bring you a little bit of Bali since back in 1999) for the latest news and best possible views on surfing and weather conditions from right here on the World’s No.1 tropical surfing holiday destination, Bali.
Ok well on the 25th we took on a bit of a mission searching for some un crowded waves but unfortunately mother nature was taking a break and delivered us some nasty conditions. Weather wise it was mostly over cast with intermittent rain and wind coming out of the W-SW up to 20knot. We did cover some miles but pretty much got skunked, it don’t happen very often but it does happen. We ended up settling for some 3-5ft windy left and rights.
But yesterday “Australia Day” it was all systems go. We knew there would be some swell but just how much was another question. Making our run well before sun rise we were on track and everything looking rosey until we found a fallen tree blocking the main route into where we wanted to go. So after half an hour of searching for another route we finally found a safe back track and got to where we wanted to be. Wave height as it shows in some of the photos in our latest gallery was a solid 6-8ft but most peeling off perfectly (except for 1 or 2 that I got of course). Surfing conditions were testy with a fresh off shore wind gusting up to 15-18knot at times. Crowd wise it wasn’t too bad and there was some pretty good surfing going down while I was in the water. Hopefully there will be some more of the same again this morning.
WEather wise we had a few drops of rain around sun up but by 9.00AM we had some sun out which was a nice change from the last week of rain and grey sky. This morning the 26th and there is some cloud still hanging around, no stars, but at least the wind isn’t howling.
Ok friends that’s me for now cause it’s almost 6.00AM and time to start getting my gear together and go get some more waves.
Changing dollars to Rupiah and the Aussie dollar is on the move now paying Rp10.600 for 1 dollar.
