Hi folks and welcome back to your baliwaves (doing our best to bring you a little bit of Bali since back in 1999) for our latest news and the best possible views on surfing and weather conditions from right here on the World’s No.1 tropical surfing holiday destination of Bali.
Ok well yesterday the 7th and wave height on the Outer Reefs was only showing in the 1-1ft+ sector and not even that when the tide filled in early afternoon. Wind direction was also not the best with the wind out of the West. Not too bad weather wise through the morning but some nasty thunder and lightning by mid afternoon.
I also had a message from a friend who was surfing at Nusa Dua and reckoned it was the biggest crowd he had ever witnessed at Geger beach yesterday. I guess it was a Sunday and wave everywhere else was minimal at best. I’m also glad that our European surfing buddies have finally discovered Nusa Dua..
Today the 8th and my mate and I headed back over to the East coast again this morning around 6.00AM hoping to get a few un crowded waves with off shore wind. Well we kinda did, but wave height was only in the thigh to chest high region with clean off shore wind at least. The best part was that it was a nice dry reef exposing low tide keeping most of the learners away. So Jase and I pretty much had a little right hand peak to ourselves, better than being at work anyway. We packed up after a couple of hours and just as the wind was starting to swing back to the East.
Weather wise so far today it hasn’t been too bad. Right now at 2.00PM the temperature is on 29 degree’s celsius, Humidity is at 73%. Wind direction is now coming out of the good old Eastern quadrant.
Mt Agung up date, with a nice clear morning here today we had an exceptional view of Mt Agung from where we were on the East coast of Bali. At first glimpse it was smoke and steam free, but maybe an hour later there was a little white colored smoke or maybe steam coming out of the crator for around 20 mins, then it was quite again.
Changing dollars to Rupiah on the streets of Tuban, –1US$=Rp13,350 –1AU$=Rp10,470 –EU$=Rp16,100 As I mentioned yesterday, usually on Monday the money exchanging vendors raise the rates to somewhere close to the normal exchange rate again after lowering them for the weekend “penalty rates” There are also still a lot of “rip off” money exchangers in Bali so be highly cautious of any exchangers offering above normal exchange rates !
