BALI / INDONESIA
22nd April 2018
Hello surfers and thanks for stopping by the baliwaves (the original Bal;i surf report website since back in 1999) for our SUNDAY SESSION on surfing and weather conditions from here on the World’s No.1 tropical surfing holiday destination and gateway to Indonesia’s surfing paradise, Bali.
So as it shows in todays fresh photo gallery our predicted swell started to smack into Bali this morning with gusto. Our 6.30AM surf check on the Outer Reefs of Tuban was still only showing wave height in the 2-4ft class between Kuta reef and Airport Left, with Middle Reef picking up the bigger set waves. Surfing conditions were clean and tidy with the wind light out of the ENE.
But by the time we got down and in position at Balangan, around 7.30AM we were happy to find wave heigth already jumped into the double head high class and only 6 surfers in the water as the tide was just about on the bottom. As the tide started to push back in around 9AM the set waves were still getting bigger and pretty soon there were some 6ft+ waves peeling through. Not every wave is perfect at Balangan but the one’s that do peel off can give you a good 200yrd ride. As the tide kept filling in a lot of people that should not have been in the water were in the water and some carnage was sure to follow. And it surely did.
Weather wise it was another perfect holiday type of day with just blue sky and off shore wind.
Ok friends this is me for now but I’ve also thrown in a fewphotos from over at Serangan beach were we were yesterday the 21st. We were there first thing in the morning and found an empty line up with head to well over head high waves peeling off. Take a good look at the photo of the classic Balinese warungs that lie along the beach front because the next time your there they won’t be. I’ve also heard that the gate will be locked for up another 6 months or so, I hope it’s not true but.. So sad to lose another surfing strong hold to developers.
