Yesterday the 17th and I was indisposed spending the full day in Singapore getting my new KITAS in order. I tell ya it was pretty tough doing 14hrs in that island / city on a tight budget. But I got her done and good to go again.
Today the 18th and our 7.00AM surf check on the Outer Reefs wasn’t looking too bad with waist to head high waves breaking between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. The tide was still just moving up off the bottom so Middle Reef had some nice shaped head high waves peeling off. Surfing conditions were pretty good as well with the SE Trade wind only just starting to kick in. But when we took another look around 9.30AM it was a different ball game. The tide was filling fast and the Tradey was blowing hard off shore. No shortage of surfers on Airports or Kuta Reef at this stage.
As it shows in today’s photo gallery I got Ketut to take a run down to Uluwatu around 8.00AM and it was pretty much the same deal that happened down there. Some fun sized waves on the Main Peak and Temples before the tide got to fat, filling everything in. Ketut reckoned there was a solid crowd as we always expect when it’s small at Uluwatu. It always packs out with learners in booties, but you still even get a few of the die hard old crew out there as well.
Weather wise today there was a little bit of cloud drifting through early but it’s been just another mainly hot and sunny day here on the World’s No.1 holiday island on Bali.
This weekend is not showing a lot of promise for much swell and you’ll probably find the better waves early in the morning before the wind kicks in. Hopefully by Tuesday or Wednesday we should see some waves around the island and come next Sunday / Monday Indo should be lighting up with a L to XL swell.
