Hello surfers and thanks again for dropping into the baliwaves (your eye’s in Indo since back in 1999) for our latest news and the best possible views on surfing and weather conditions from right here on the World’s No.1 tropical surfing holiday destination and gateway to Indonesia’s surfing paradise, Bali.
Ok so as I mentioned in our last report we hit the road early on the 13th and made our way up the West Coast to see what was happening up at Medewi. We knew there would be some swell on it making it too big for the push in learners, a perfect time to surf this place. Arriving to find wave height in the 4-5ft range with a couple of 6 foot close outs and the wind off shore, we hit the nail right on the head. Most of the waves were peeling off for a good 200+ meters. But after that drive on Bali’s most natorious highway I needed some coffee and breakfast before doing anything.
Surfing conditions stayed clean and glassy through until around 10.30AM when the SE Trade wind started to kick in and blow cross / on shore at this location. Crowd wise there were still a good 50 plus surfers in the water as the tide filled in and the waves did start to get a bit too fat and wonky.
Weather wise as it shows in some of the photos it was a little grey and over cast at first before the clouds cleared away for the blue sky.
Yesterday the 14th and we thought we’d surf local and hit Kuta Reef for some fun times. Wave height was in the 3-4ft range and when we jumped off the boat the wind was out of the West, but only light making conditions glassy. It was maybe an hour later that the ESE Trade wind started tio kick in and give us clean off shore wind. Crowd wise at one stage there would have only been 5-6 surfers in the water.
This morning the 15th and right now at 6.15AM it’s just starting to dawn. About 15 minutes ago we did have a quick rain shower that came down hard but only lasted 3-5 minutes. The sky still looks pretty gloomy though so we’ll have to wait and see what happens. The charts are calling for a slight bump in size, but I’m thinking it will mainly show over on the East coast with this current swell direction we have.
The next tide today in Bali will be a 2.6mtr High at 10.43AM.
